Professional Summary
As a Functional Ecologist and the Founder of Esa Khatulistiwa, I am dedicated to bridging the critical gaps between complex ecological systems, human communities, and the global economy. My work is anchored in the belief that true sustainability cannot exist in a vacuum; it requires a delicate, data-driven balance of Economic Resilience, Social Acceptability, and Ecological Sustainability.
By translating the intricate mechanics of ecosystems into actionable public policies and industrial practices, I strive to design frameworks where human development and nature actively regenerate one another. Serving as the Deputy Head of the Center of Studies in Industrial Development and Public Policy at ITS, my leadership focuses on scaling sustainable ocean solutions and land-use innovations from the laboratory to the community level.
Key Areas of Expertise
- Systems Ecology & Public Policy: Translating empirical ecological data into sustainable industrial development frameworks and policy briefs.
- Coastal & Marine Regeneration: Advancing sustainable ocean economies, blue carbon sequestration, and marine bioprospecting.
- Agroecological Innovation: Developing climate-smart agricultural systems, incorporating biochar technologies, and optimizing land-use through agrivoltaic integration.
- Community-Centric Conservation: Designing community service programs that align nutritional security with ecological restoration.
Vision Statement
“To decode the functional mechanics of our natural world, and encode them into the economies, societies, and policies of tomorrow—building an equatorial region that thrives on the synergy between human resilience and ecological vitality.”
Our Project Area
Our project areas span across strategic coastal, marine, agricultural, and ecological regions in East Java, where we implement integrated sustainability, conservation, and community-based environmental programs.
